The Atheist Spot - Now with Tagging!

We just launched some exciting new features that we hope make it easier both to submit links, and to consume them:

1. Tags! When you submit a link, you can specify any number of tags that go along with that story. You can then browse stories by tag, see what's popular from the tag cloud, or even subscribe to the RSS feed of a given tag. Powerful stuff.
2. To simplify the submit process, we've removed the "captcha" that was previously required on the final step (where you have to figure out what the jumbled mess of letters spells). We are going to try this out, but if we find that spam increases we'll have to bring this back unfortunately.
3. We've added both a Feedback button along the top right (to encourage feedback from our users...something we love more then a Dawkins debate!), and a message for first time visitors to help explain what the site is all about.

We're pretty excited about some of the feedback we've been hearing, and so we're working as fast as we can to continue improving the experience for you guys. Keep that feedback coming!

Categories are back!

Hey Folks,

We jumped the gun last week when we downsized the categories. We received some feedback on how to make the The Atheist Spot better. One of the suggestion had to do with streamlining categories. Lenny and I were having a discussion on which categories to keep. I was playing devils advocate, supporting downsized categories based on media types. I must have been pretty convincing in my argument, that we jumped the gun before looking at the other side of the story. Suffice it to say, after an outrage from many users, and after thinking it through more fully, CATEGORIES ARE BACK!

Per your suggestions and feedback we have added Opinions, Interviews, and WTF to the list. I especially like the WTF suggestion, some of the stories submitted just leave my jaw hanging.

We also changed Videos to encompass a little more, Video & Audio. There seems to be more and more atheist videos, clips, lectures, podcasts, and even music popping up.

BTW, just on the horizon, we will be implementing tagging!
